Ten years ago, not many European consumers considered buying a phone from the Chinese manufacturer Huawei or a TV from Xiaomi. Now Chinese brands have become popular in the west. Even lesser-known brands like Cheetah Mobile and Haier are becoming powerful competitors in Europa and the US.
Advertising holding company WPP, its research firm Kantar Millward Brown, and Google compiled a list of China’s strongest export brands. BusinessInsider reports that the first ‘BrandZ Top 30 Chinese Global Brand Builders’ report ranks companies you may not even know, like Hisense, manufacturer of white goods and electronics like TVs and tablets. It exports to 130 countries and around 30% of the company’s revenue comes from overseas.
Cheetah Mobile is a relatively young company, known for its free mobile security software. It has more than 634 million monthly active users worldwide. Anker manufactures electronic accessories like headphones, USB cables, and portable chargers.
Other strong, relatively new export brands from China are Haier (large appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, and dishwashers), Xiaomi (smartphones), Elex Tech (games like Clash of Kings), and of course ecommerce giant Alibaba and Huawei.
